About the Role:

We are looking for a talented DataStage Developer to join our direct banking client in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IBM DataStage for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) development, working within a dynamic, fast-paced environment to build and maintain data pipelines and integration processes. This role will provide the opportunity to work on large-scale, high-impact data integration projects for the banking sector. The position offers hybrid working arrangements with 3 days a week in the office and 2 days working remotely.


Key Responsibilities:

  • ETL Development: Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using IBM DataStage to extract data from multiple sources, transform it as per business rules, and load it into target systems (e.g., databases, data warehouses, data lakes).
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with data architects and business analysts to understand data requirements and integrate data from different systems, ensuring that the integration meets business needs and aligns with regulatory requirements.
  • Data Quality & Optimization: Ensure that the data integration processes are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability. Conduct thorough testing to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • System Support: Provide ongoing support for existing DataStage workflows and ETL processes, troubleshoot data issues, and perform system maintenance and upgrades.
  • Data Mapping & Transformation: Work with stakeholders to define data mapping and transformation logic, ensuring seamless data flow across systems and departments.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data analysts, project managers, and other IT teams to ensure alignment on data initiatives. Document ETL processes, data flows, and transformations clearly for future reference and audit purposes.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure compliance with data governance, security standards, and regulatory requirements for data handling, transformation, and storage within the banking environment.
  • Automation & Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and improve the efficiency of data workflows, ensuring the adoption of best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM DataStage (DataStage 11.x or higher) for ETL development, data integration, and data pipeline management.
  • ETL & Data Integration Skills: Expertise in designing and developing ETL workflows, data transformation, and data integration processes using DataStage and other data tools.
  • Database Knowledge: Strong experience with relational databases, particularly SQL, Oracle, DB2, or other similar databases. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and data modeling is a plus.
  • Data Mapping & Transformation: Proven experience in data mapping, transformation, and aggregation using DataStage and other ETL technologies.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Shell scripting, Python, Perl) to automate processes and handle data transformations efficiently.
  • Version Control & CI/CD: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes.
  • Business Knowledge: Familiarity with data-driven projects within the banking, financial services, or insurance industries is an advantage.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders, with the ability to document and present complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve complex data issues in a timely manner.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: IBM DataStage certification or relevant certifications in data integration and ETL development.
  • Big Data & Cloud: Familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a plus.
  • Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance best practices and compliance with industry regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
  • Agile: Experience working in an Agile development environment using methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
