Engineering Program Manager
Process Description
Reporting to the President, the purpose of this role is to lead and develop standards and strategies for our technical programs on site, develop project management standards and tools, and to lead, coach and mentor technical and capital projects. The role will start with four (4) direct reports and help influence the development of our new project managers. This individual will be a member of the Management Team. With our planned growth and expansion, there will be opportunities to diversify their workplan and for career advancement.

As Engineering and Technical Manager, you will be expected to:

- Participate in other department meetings and events as requested
- Follow the Direction Setting Standards
- Ensure Pay & Progression for Feedback is done for all direct reports a minimum of once every 12 months
- Complete Controlled Goods Registration

Responsibilities
  1. Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the project, mechanical design, facilities, and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Site contact for Security and IT.
  2. Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, infrastructure improvements and equipment improvements ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  3. Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing team. Encourage professional growth and skill development.
  4. Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices. Apply this knowledge to guide the team in adopting new technologies and methodologies.
  5. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as R&D, production, finance, and quality, to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions into the overall business processes.
  6. Resource Allocation: Effectively allocate resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize productivity and achieve project goals.
  7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in engineering projects and develop proactive strategies to mitigate them.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in engineering or technical management roles.
  3. Experience in pyrotechnics or explosives (manufacturing, use or design) would be considered an asset.
  4. Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
  5. Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Formal qualifications would be considered an asset.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  8. Experience with MS Teams, O365, Excel.
  9. Experience with regulatory agencies including (but not limited to) MECP, NRC-ERD, MOL, Health Canada, MOL, WSIB, and the likes.
  10. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. LEAN, 6Sigma or TPM experience and qualifications would be considered an asset.
The position requires minimum intermediate proficiency in English in each of three language skills: Reading, Writing and Oral Interaction.
