Job Overview

Reporting to the Global Product Manager, Underground Loaders and Trucks, the  Product Specialist, Underground Loaders and Trucks,  supports the technical and commercial strategic growth actions for the full product range of loaders and trucks to hard rock customers. This position will support the development of a long term product development strategy and the functional specifications of the applicable products. The Product Specialist will work closely with the product design engineering teams to develop, trial the products and then work with the global commercial, aftermarket and marketing teams to work through commercial launch of the product to end user customers and Komatsu distributors. The position will also support the creation and delivery of commercial product information requirements for the Komatsu distribution networks sales and technical teams. The ideal candidate for this position is technically astute on mining heavy equipment with a desire to support commercial growth. The position will be based in Sudbury, Ontario with global travel required.

Key Job Responsibilities

Support the development of product line strategy and implementation of existing product upgrades and new products through the global Komatsu distribution channels. Conduct market research, competitive intelligence efforts to ensure market-driven product direction is achieved. Work closely with design engineering to ensure functional specifications are achieved through technical design of products. Maintain & establish relationships with new and existing customers (end user and Komatsu distribution) to educate and promote product lines and services. Liaise with manufacturing, engineering, factory aftermarket, marketing and commercial personnel on new product launch plans and execution. Advise Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Purchasing departments of technical issues, potential solutions or product enhancements to mitigate negative impact and protect or grow the overall business. Support commercial and aftermarket teams for underground loaders and trucks products through planning, training, program development as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

BSc. in Mechanical or Mining Engineering or equivalent or Diploma in Engineering Technology or Mechanical/Electrical Trade is required. 3+ years of experience working with underground mining heavy equipment and technologies. Direct mining/equipment application experience with similar underground loaders or trucks is required. Knowledge of the equipment market in mining operations is desired. Must have excellent communication and public speaking skills with an ability to demonstrate confidence in material knowledge and convey product information to a broad audience with varying levels of product capability. Commercial aptitude and experience with market analysis, sales upselling, sales forecasting is desired. Strong computer skills with ability to prepare data metrics, sales presentations, training materials. Strong organizational and project management skills to multi-task on a variety of projects. Valid driver's license and passport with the ability to travel globally to customer sites and Komatsu Mining sales offices, dealers offices.
