The Opportunity

As the Activities Assistant at Marrion Village, you will help develop and implement wellness programs that promote healthy living and community engagement, while building relationships with residents, team members, and external organizations. 

Requirements

Completion of Grade 12 education and recognized recreational courses for seniors. Previous experience in coordinating activities for seniors or related combinations of education, training, and experience. Possession of a valid Class 4 unrestricted driver's license.

About The Role

FTE: 0.6

Rotation: Sunday - Tuesday or Thursday - Saturday

You’ll be in charge of creating and updating activity calendars, notices, and schedules, overseeing event setup and takedown, and arranging bus transportation for our Assisted Living residents at Baptist Housing. This includes driving the Baptist Housing bus, planning engaging activities, and considering feedback from residents and team members. Additionally, you'll be responsible for compiling and managing important documentation such as attendance records, progress reports, and activity plans as requested by the Activity Coordinator. You'll also play a role in establishing a network of resources comprising individuals, volunteers, and organizations while promoting health and safety practices within the team.

Victoria ranks among the top twenty world cities for quality of life. Your work location will be at Marrion Village, our Assisted Living and Seniors Rental Housing community in Oak Bay.

With a resident-oriented approach, you possess a profound understanding of the issues affecting seniors, which enables you to connect on a personal level. You're a team player and a resourceful networker, building meaningful relationships with residents, resource organizations, fellow team members, and volunteers. Your ability to work both independently and collaboratively is a testament to your versatility. You excel at time management, efficiently scheduling and prioritizing activities to ensure a balanced and engaging daily routine for residents. Moreover, you have a keen eye for detail and a compassionate nature, enabling you to observe and recognize changes in residents' overall well-being, whether physical, emotional, or psychological. You are proactive in attending recommended relevant conferences, workshops, and events, ensuring you stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in senior care.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation package, featuring an hourly wage of $26.27. Your comprehensive benefits include employer-paid extended health and dental coverage, along with a generous four weeks of vacation, prorated based on FTE. Additionally, we provide RRSP matching contributions and support for your ongoing professional development.
