We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead - Security Engineer to spearhead our security engineering initiatives. This role is pivotal in enhancing our organization's security posture, focusing on the technical and strategic aspects of security rather than people management. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader, driving the definition and implementation of our security architecture, cloud security strategy, and automation capabilities to bolster our defense mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and propel security engineering projects that significantly elevate our security maturity. Serve as a technical leader in defining and executing these initiatives.
- Craft and define the technical security architecture, considering both functional and non-functional requirements in line with the organization's risk appetite. Ensure alignment with business objectives and outcomes.
- Spearhead the development and implementation of a comprehensive cloud security strategy and roadmap, ensuring our cloud environments are robustly secured.
- Proactively evaluate and stay abreast of emerging security technologies, trends, and standards. Provide insightful recommendations to keep our security practices ahead of potential threats.
- Conduct thorough security assessments, offering technical security expertise.
- Effectively communicate architectural security decisions and risks to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with technology engineering and operations teams to embed security principles by design, ensuring security is integrated at every stage of development.
- Design and implement security platforms, automation capabilities, use cases, and scripts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our security operations.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related technology field.
- Possession of CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISA, CISM, or CCSP certification is required.
- Additional certifications in technical security (SSCP, CEH, CHFI, OSCP, OSCE) or cloud security platforms (AWS, Azure) are highly desirable.
Experience
- At least 9 years of experience in Security Engineering or a related information security role.
- Minimum of 2 year of experience within the Canadian financial services sector is preferred.
- Proven experience in deploying and managing various security platforms and in designing and building security use cases.
- Strong understanding of programming languages and the capability to develop scripts. Deep knowledge of Security Standards such as ISO 27000 series and NIST.
- Experienced in securing cloud platforms and containers.

- Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with various stakeholders.
