Job Title: GENERAL LABORER

Job Duties: 

Candidates will be responsible for janitorial and general labourer duties including; cleaning, sweeping, moping, painting ect. They could also be used to help on shipping and receiving department on fork trucks.

Other areas/departments where over time contractors are able to apply and move to include;

Stores – Contractors will be performing various tasks based on order and need. They will receive and put away materials and hand out materials to the floor. Computer work is required and some heavy lifting may be required. Only 3% of contractors work in this area.

Linesets – this area is where we take the annealed large level wind coil of copper and run it down a table and cut it from 15-50 foot lengths. The workers will take the copper and put foam on it then coil it. It is then packed into a box with another smaller coil, this is called a lineset kit. This is a fast paced work area and is also a very team orientated area with 5 employees working on the line. This position is seasonal and contractors will be moved based on performance in this area when winter rolls around. Some heavy lifting may be required. 40% of contractors are placed here.

Copper Zone – There are several areas in the copper zone. It’s a finishing area where the copper is packed off the annealing furnace different kinds of packaging. Straight length tubes go into wooden crates and coils go into cardboard boxes. Industrial level winds are large coils that are packed on skids to go to the customer. Some level winds are annealed for further processing in the lineset area. Other jobs may include sorting copper tubing with a micrometer, packing and or bundling tubes or plugging the ends of tubes and bundling. Heavy lifting is required in this area. 40% of contractors are placed here.

White Zone – this area is fed from the press where different machines draw the copper into different sizes and lengths. There are several machines in the area the contractors can point tubes or cut tubes or hook lifts of tubing up for the overhead crane to transport. The contractor will learn several different machines in this area. Only 7% of contractors work in this area.

Extrusion Press – This area is where the copper block is heated up and extruded through a die to form a tube. The tubes are straightened by the contractor to be checked for quality and run into a machine to ready the tube for further processing. The contractor will also work at another machine connected to the press. This area is hot due to the heating of the copper for extrusion it is fast paced the press extrudes a tube approximately every minute. Heavy lifted is required. Only 10% of contractors work in this area.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 6 months of machine operating experience
  2. 6 months experience working in a fast paced environment
  3. Comfortable lifting 50lbs

Location: London, Ontario



Shift: Day: *3 shift rotation, every 2 weeks

  • Midnight shift hours- 12am- 8 am
  • Afternoon shift hours 4pm- 12am
  • Days shift hours 8am-4pm

Pay:

  • $21.02/hr on Day Shift
  • $22.02/hr on Afternoon and Night shifts
