Wood is searching for a  Consultant   Vibration Engineer  to join our Vibration, Dynamics and Noise (VDN) group. The preference would be for this individual to sit in our Houston, TX office, but we will consider qualified applicants in other US locations and Calgary, AB.

This is a technically challenging role solving complex vibration, fatigue, transients, or integrity related problems for our clients. integrity management and other capabilities. You would be joining a team of world experts in Flow Induced Vibration, Acoustic Induced Vibration and FEA simulations, dynamic stress and fatigue. This is a client facing role with responsibilities in opportunity development with clients, proposals generation, project delivery and raising the profile of the Wood VDN team.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred; other disciplines with relevant (vibration analysis) experience will be considered. Valid US or Canadian passport, with the eligibility to travel to either Houston, TX or Calgary, AB for training as necessary (up to 6 week intervals) Minimum of 3 years industry experience in Engineering consulting firm; industry experience in piping vibration analysis highly desirable Strong interest in vibration, fatigue, integrity management, reliability, and design Experience using Finite Element, Acoustical simulation software, hydraulic transient, and SolidWorks (or similar computational software is highly desirable) Ability to read P&ID, PFD, HMB, and piping isometrics is an asset, as is experience with process and hydraulic calculations Physically capable and willing to execute site work, which will require carrying up to 50 pounds of measurement equipment, and potentially working on elevated platforms, scaffolding or other work areas Excellent communication skills (written and spoken) with the ability to speak directly to the issue and to adapt to work environment and customers’ communication style Strong time management and organizational skills, with the desire to go the extra mile US citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US, without sponsorship from Wood
