Reporting to the Manager, Admissions, the incumbent is a member of the admissions function and supports the multi-term processing of post-secondary applications to Sheridan. They are primarily responsible for the effective, accurate, and efficient processing and assessment of applications for a diverse population of domestic and international applicants including direct (i.e. high school) and non-direct (i.e. mature, transfer, internationally trained individuals, etc.) students to support the achievement of the College’s enrolment management targets and fiscal goals. They are also responsible for providing direct advising to applicants and students on admission matters, applying in-depth program and admissions expertise to analyze and resolve issues. The incumbent conducts international credential evaluation for large markets, and liaises with faculty, staff and other departments on behalf of applicants where necessary. They provide subject matter expertise and recommendations when it comes to admissions business process and systems analysis.

What You’ll be Doing

Processing and monitoring application progress throughout the admissions cycle in a multi-term environment to appropriately determine the achievement of program new student enrolment targets. Interpreting and assessing applications and academic credentials to determine admission status and apply admission decisions. Analyzing enrolment data for assigned program areas to determine the appropriate number of applications and offers required to meet program targets. Alerts Manager Admissions to potential concerns in achieving established enrolment projection. Updating admission related data inputs (i.e. checklists, decisions, etc.) in the Student Information System (SIS) to ensure accuracy of applicant and admissions information and support the generation of related applicant communications. Compiling and verifying information for automated admissions processes. Working collaboratively with team members to ensure that all admissions standards are understood and are deployed consistently and equitably for all programs. Liaising with the academic schools/coordinators for programs that require the assessment of supplemental admission requirements to ensure timely review. Appling a strong understanding of both the Ministry (MCU) and Sheridan admissions policies such that admission decisions are consistent with those policies. Investigating and resolving issues related to application processing, admission requirements, and decisions. Identifying, investigating, and reporting suspected fraudulent admissions cases. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date admissions and enrollment data and information using the college's admissions, student records and data management systems. Providing subject matter expert knowledge to the Faculty and/or program coordinators regarding individual admissions decisions and/or requirement changes. Maximizing international student enrollment of qualified candidates by accurately and efficiently adjudicating academic credentials and curriculum from large markets. Working with team members to prioritize processing and distribution of work to ensure credential evaluations volumes are optimal. Ensuring accurate input and codification of international credential evaluations and equivalencies into the student information system (SIS) to support the efficient timing of admissions assessments and decisions  Researching, assessing, and documenting a large and complex body of information on educational systems from around the world and determines international curriculum equivalences. Liaising with OTR departmental staff (i.e. Assessment Centre, Recruitment, Records and Registration, etc.), other institutional stakeholders (i.e. Student Affairs, Faculty program coordinators, etc.) as a subject matter expert for admissions processes and to resolve applicant issues. Performing other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will also possess the following qualifications:

Must possess a 3-year diploma/ degree in the field of education, social sciences, information technology, business administration or a related field. Must possess a minimum of 3-years experience in a position processing complex and specialized information/guidance (or a combination of relevant education and experience). Must possess a thorough understanding of post-secondary education academic programs, organizational and educational structures, admissions processes, assessments and educational standards or equivalencies. Must have superior customer service skills, problem-solving, data analysis, judgement, tact, and diplomacy. Must have experience with application and admissions operations, determining program eligibility, credential assessment, assessing eligibility for advanced entry opportunities, reporting and analysis to monitor admission and enrolment targets, generating written and electronic applicant/student correspondence and functional use of a Student Information System (SIS). Fluency in a second language other than English is preferred. Preferred languages are based on market needs and language coverage within the current admissions team.
