Mill Ridge, a local private golf course in Chester, NS is currently seeking a Spray Technician to assist in the landscape maintenance operations of the golf course for the 2024 season.

Job Summary:

The Spray Technician under the direction of the golf course superintendent or assistant superintendent is responsible for maintaining the health and appearance of the golf course by applying pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals to control weeds, pests, and diseases. This position involves operating spray equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to environmental regulations and best practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Apply pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals to the golf course turf, trees, and plantsFollow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying chemicals to prevent exposure and ensure personal safetyOperate and maintain spray equipment, including sprayers, spreaders, and mixing tanks, to ensure proper functioning and accurate application of chemicalsMaintain the property and equipment to ensure they are clean and safeMust be physically able to complete daily tasksBe aware of surroundings at all timesEnsure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the taskEnsure safety of fellow employeesPerform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks requiring the use of independent judgment and actionBasic knowledge of landscaping and/or lawncareKnowledge of Spray equipment Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properlyMust be a punctual and reliable team player, and able to work without supervisionMust be willing and able to learn how to operate safely motorized tools, including side-by-sidesWorking safely is a condition of employment.

Working Conditions:

The Spray Technician role requires physical actives. There will be lifting, crouching, bending, and more to complete the job. The individual must be able to lift up to 50lbs and able to work outside in various weather conditions. The technician must have property clothing for outdoor labour work (heat, cold, and/or wet conditions). CSA approved footwear is mandatory.
