McCain Foods (Canada) – Florenceville Facilities and Building services is currently looking for two Summer Students to join our team. This position will be a full time 4-month contract starting in June.  Applicants either must be returning to school after the work term or recently graduated from an applicable university or college program. 

  

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide miscellaneous light labor projects including cubicle moves, room set ups, minor repairs and building maintenance / enhancements 

  • Responsible for the yard upkeep throughout Complex and other sites 

  • Prepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing and preparing sauces. 

  • Cooks food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, to specified recipes and standards. 

  • Ensure the kitchen meets all regulations including sanitary and food safety guidelines. 

  • Following daily, weekly and monthly schedules to ensure all office areas and equipment is cleaned, disinfected, and maintained in a safe and respectable manner. This includes emptying trashcans, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping, washing etc. 

  • Replenish paper tower, toilet paper, soap dispensers and hand sanitizers, as required. 

  • Report any safety concerns; follow up if they are not taken care of in a reasonable period of time. 

  • Must attend team meetings as required 

  • Other related duties as may be required. 

  

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High level of attention to detail. 

  • Good oral communication and team player. 

  • Positive and approachable manner. 

  • Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you. 

  • Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes. 

  • Experienced and knowledgeable working with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook 

  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks. 

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team 

  • Self-motivated and Customer focused 

  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Crouching, bending, reaching, repetitive movements 

  • Push, pull, carry 

  • Standing on feet for long periods. 

  

Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.” Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will held as necessary and those selected for interview are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position. Shifts are subject to change and are not guaranteed due to scheduling demands.
