DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for a Temporary Full-time position for the role of Program Coordinator Safe Haven Team in Surrey, BC. Reporting to Manager, BC SAFE HAVEN, the Safe Haven Program Coordinator is responsible for thecoordination and delivery of programs designed to support the social andeconomic integration of vulnerableRefugee Claimant, CUEAT visa holders and refugee newcomers in the Surrey andDelta communities with the crucial role in providing comprehensive support torefugee claimant asylum seekers and other refugee clients. Thisincludes providing comprehensive settlement services, navigating immigrationprocesses, and facilitating access to essential support systems.

The Key Areas of Responsibility are: 

Provide assistance to the GroupOrientation Coordinator with coordination support and interpretation for groupsessions on immigration processes, job readiness, mental health, and communityresources. Conduct client intake toassess client needs and eligibility and refer to the appropriate team members. Independently conductoutreach in the community to attract new clients in creative and effective waysand help promote Safe Haven events with clients and partners. Take detailed notes duringmeetings to ensure accurate record-keeping and follow-up. Offer clients information onavailable services and make referrals to appropriate community resources. Build and maintainrelationships with community service providers to enhance program referrals andpartnerships. Plan, organize and attendevents, such as forums and community engagements, to promote program servicesand support integration. Establish and maintain aninventory of community resources and services available to clients. Work closely with otherprogram staff and stakeholders to identify emerging needs and developresponsive service strategies. Schedule, monitor, andoversee volunteers working within the program and provide training to newvolunteers to support program needs. Facilitate effectivecoordination and communication within the team to ensure seamless service andsupport delivery. Report Administration:Assist the manager in compiling and tracking reports and ensuring compliancewith funder deadlines. Create newsletters to sharewith Safe Haven Community Partners and clients. Organize and oversee programactivities for refugee claimants and other eligible vulnerable newcomers. Other duties as assigned bymanagement. 

Qualified candidates will possess:

Diploma in a related human/socialservices field. Minimum of two years ofrelevant experience in project coordination, administration, volunteermanagement, and working with refugee claimants or vulnerable populations or anequivalent combination of education, training and experience. Strong understanding ofimmigrant and settlement issues, integration processes, and the challengesfaced by refugee claimants. Excellent verbal and writtencommunication skills in English. Exceptional organizationaland time management skills. Demonstrated ability to workcollaboratively within a multicultural team setting. Knowledge of communityresources and ability to build and maintain partnerships. Ability to work with minimalsupervision and meet deadlines. Strong computer literacyskills, including proficiency with MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, internetresearch, Canva, Doodle Poll, and social media. A second language is anasset
