Plains is currently looking to fill the position of Maintenance Scheduler for our Empress facilities located approximately 100 km north of Medicine Hat, Alberta. Working from our Medicine Hat (Redcliff) office with our Electrical & Instrumentation, Mechanical, Engineering, Construction and Operations personnel, you will report to the Team Lead and be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective scheduling of short- and long-term maintenance activities associated with asset integrity, capital, and major maintenance / turnaround projects.

Responsibilities:

Utilize the work execution management process (WEMP), maintaining a clear overview of the volume of prepared corrective maintenance backlog and prioritizing when to bring the work into the schedule for execution. Develop the 1-2 week look-ahead maintenance schedule for the facility and the 6-month maintenance schedule forecast. Develop turnaround schedules as required. Maintain a 52-week major maintenance schedule. Remain aware of advances in field and look for ways to add value to the business. Create and communicate draft schedules based on tasks, operational constraints, and corrective work order priorities. Assist with management of change (MOC) processes. Take initiative for own development and improvement and persistently strive to improve individual performance. Monitor and review 90-day plans—particularly in relation to equipment stoppages, outages, and shutdowns— and propose adjustments to plans as required. Monitor work execution constraints and available work centre capacities and campaign periods, highlighting upcoming constraints in time to mitigate them. Monitor work periods for specialist services. Propose suggestions on changes to trade mix to fit estimated work. Demonstrate an understanding of different perspectives and a willingness to share knowledge and ideas and provide a helping hand as needed. Coordinate all schedule cycle meetings and integrate with the work preparation team and responsible personnel to assure work execution. Assist with the development, monitoring, and tracking of maintenance KPIs, working with various stakeholders to act when KPIs are outside of target ranges. Assist with building good working / customer relationships with contractors and service providers.

Qualifications:

Certified Interprovincial Journeyman in a relevant industrial trade considered an asset 5+ years’ experience in a maintenance scheduling / coordination role Experience planning work in an industrial environment considered an asset Shutdown / turnaround experience an asset Proficient in Maximo as well as Prometheus (or equivalent maintenance planning/scheduling software) Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel Goal oriented self-starter with excellent time management and communication skills Able to lead by example and positively influence a variety of individuals in a busy field environment Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing
