Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Catering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service; Actively engage in sales of meeting space and book various types of events, including but not limited to: Meetings, Dinners, Receptions, Weddings, Social and Protocol events, etc; Achieve monthly – yearly goals as set out by the Director of Catering; Conduct site inspections, achieve entertainment goals, activity goals and revenue goals; Confirm all event related information with clients during finalizations; Establish and maintain excellent rapport with clients, prior to, during and post event, encouraging repeat business (relationship building); Book and organize all bookings from date of booking to departure, including meeting requirements, guest room requirements, guest room pickup, food & beverage and audio visual; Finalize events which are assigned to you as needed by the Director of Catering Handle all deposits and prepayments for events and ensure they are fully prepaid Create floor plans for each event to ensure banquets and clients are in agreement prior to set up; Initiate billing procedures, ensuring any deposits and/or credit applications are received with adequate information and within an acceptable time frame and following full hotel credit procedures; Ensure all BEO’s are signed by the authorized representative and placed in files Conduct pre-conference meetings with clients and pertinent departments to confirm all relevant details are communicated when required and create event resumes when required; Attend daily BEO meeting to review event contracts and ensure last minute changes are communicated with appropriate departments; Follow departmental policies and procedures; Follow all safety policies; Excellent time management and organizational skills, prioritizing and being able to assess when additional hours are required; Other duties as assigned; Be available for evening and weekend work when required or as directed (weddings and socials are an integral part of the job); Professional attitude and attire at all times;
Qualifications
Previous leadership experience within a similar role required; Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications required, knowledge of Opera preferred; University/College degree in a related discipline preferred; Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required; Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities; Highly responsible & reliable; Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times; English required, Bilingual with French an asset;
