We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Coordinator. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Health and Safety Coordinator will promote safety attitudes, safe work practices, and environments as well as manage, maintain, and administer the Health and Safety program with the objective of minimizing accidents, injuries, and environmental damage.

Duties and Responsibilities:

In this fast-paced environment, you will be responsible for a number of functions including: Develop, organize, manage, maintain, and administer the Health and Safety Program in collaboration with Health and Safety Committee. Providing recommendations and guidance based on knowledge of federal/provincial occupational safety and health legislation/regulations, applicable codes, standards and guidelines. Conduct safety orientation of employees, contractors, and visitors. Identify safety training requirements, and schedule the training as required. Manage, coordinate, and be a resource for the Safety and Health Committee. Conduct internal safety audits. Lead investigations and accident analysis and recommend corrective measures. Responsible for WCB Claims management and working with Management on Return to Work. Develop and maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, job hazard analysis, and safe work procedures. Maintain WHMIS education and training program and Safety Data Sheet Management. Administer safety shoe program for all employees. Manage the development, coordination, and maintenance of emergency preparedness plans, fire drills, and emergency evacuations. Monitor compliance of company safety policies and regulations. Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees to promote a culture of safety awareness. Develop, implement, and review safety policies, procedures, and initiatives. Manage incident reporting trends and statistics and assist in ensuring a safe return to work for all ill or injured employees. Maintain secure building access authorization for all employees.

Education/Training/Experience:

A successful candidate for this role will demonstrate some or all of the following characteristics: You are a self-starter with 2 years of experience in a Health and Safety coordinator role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Post-secondary education in a related field Excellent Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, Accident Investigation, and labour laws. Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety. WHMIS Trainer Certification preferred. Working knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal legislation. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills. You are highly organized with an ability to independently adapt to a dynamic workload. You are technologically savvy and fluent in Microsoft Office. You have a strong analytical mindset and demonstrated ability to analyze information, situations, problems, policies, and procedures to formulate logical and objective recommendations and decisions. Working knowledge of safety management information systems. Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. Able to work independently and as a team member. Experience working in Human Resources considered an asset.
