We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a BSc degree in the life sciences to join our Protein Science team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025. You will play a key part in optimizing and executing high-throughput characterization assays, gaining valuable experience in a dynamic, collaborative research environment. 

While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and support from experienced team members within Protein Science. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.

How you might spend your days

Learning and conducting high throughput characterization of antibodies, bi- and multi-specifics using a variety of analytical and biophysical techniquesSupporting the assessment of developability properties of hundreds of antibodies through characterization assays, such as non-specific binding ELISA, self-interaction assays, analytical size exclusion chromatography (aSEC), and hydrophobic interaction chromatography (aHIC)Collaborating with teammates to troubleshoot, analyze, interpret, and communicate data effectivelyGrowing your technical expertise by gaining hands-on experience with advanced methodologies, and contributing to cutting-edge scientific research in a dynamic and collaborative environmentParticipating in team meetings to share updates and insights on ongoing experiments and projectsAssisting in refining experimental protocols and performing data analysis using relevant software and tools

You are energized by the idea of working with teammates to develop innovative workflows that accelerate and enhance therapeutic antibody discovery and optimizationYou have previous hands-on wet lab experience, and a keen desire to learn new skills in an industry setting; previous co-op experience would be considered an assetYou are currently enrolled in a BSc program in Biophysics, Biochemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Structural Biology, or a related life sciences fieldYou have a passion for science, technology, and innovation, and are excited to apply these interests in a hands-on laboratory settingYou have strong interpersonal skills and thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional team environmentYou are eager to learn and develop new technical skills while contributing to impactful scientific research

What we offer

AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a number of ways to support AbCellerites in maximizing their work-life synergy. You will have a vacation allowance as well as additional days off as part of our company-wide office closures (a real value to all), and sick leave time while on your internship. Scientific and technical mentorship is a priority. And you’ll find we prioritize teams and social groups to build community and connections across AbCellera.
