Exploration Geologist

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Exploration General Supervisor, you will be a member of the Kirkland Lake Regional Exploration team, working on various exploration sites and collaborating with other members of the division. You are responsible for leading our surface exploration activities in the area.

Promote Health & Safety in the workplace through active participation in the Internal Responsibility System, and ensure that environmental and safety protocols are followed; Provide technical leadership for the Kirkland Lake Regional team including developing regional-, target- and deposit-scale geological and mineralizing models; Collection, compilation, data management, and interpretation of geological information from exploration programs including diamond drilling, mapping, geophysics, and surface sampling; Provide technical leadership for regional exploration team including review, development and maintenance of best practice technical exploration systems and protocols; Contribute to developing exploration work programs and to strategic exploration planning; In collaboration with the Exploration General Supervisor, ensure technical coaching for professional development purposes and proactive mentorship of junior staff.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Bachelor’s degree in geology, post-graduate degree is an asset; Registered as a Professional Geologist (P.Geo); 4 or more years of experience in mineral exploration, both field and diamond drilling programs; Experience with a variety of deposit and mineralization styles; Experience with generating and evaluating projects; Experience managing exploration teams and contractors; Experience testing and implementing new technologies and methods; Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications and other relevant software; Excellent working knowledge of GIS software; Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team; Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (Oral and written); Autonomous, well-organized; Valid driver’s license.
