The BCCHR is dedicated to high quality research spanning a wide range of concerns relevant to children’s and family health.

The University of British Columbia & BC Children’s Hospital are seeking a visionary Division Head to provide leadership to the clinical and academic services to the Division of Endocrinology. The vision of the Division is: ‘Empowered patients, exemplary team, ever-evolving care, and excellence in education and research.


The Division of Endocrinology is comprised of 3 key clinical programs:

The Diabetes Program serves children and youth The Endocrinology Program serves as a consultation service to children and youth The Gender Program, one of the busiest in North America, serves transgender and gender-diverse youth

The Division of Endocrinology at BCCH includes 11 clinical faculty (approx. FTE), 1 scientist, as well as a team of dedicated clinical nurse specialists, dietitians and social workers. The Division also works collaboratively with Child Health BC, Health Authority medical leads, and community-based pediatric endocrinologists to deliver high-quality care as close to home as possible.

The Division engages with healthcare learners from multiple disciplines and provides an outstanding environment for clinical research and teaching. The Division aims to maintain its status of academic excellence through a wide range of research spanning population/public health, quality improvement, implementation science, digital health and data analytics, and preclinical/clinical trials. The Division is also committed to the education of future health care providers through a successful Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons accredited fellowship training program.

The successful candidate for the Division Head position will have demonstrated a history of strong leadership as well as a commitment to academic, research, and clinical excellence in Pediatric Endocrinology over several years. With a broad scope of clinical experience, they will be dedicated to providing the highest quality clinical service, with a focus on continuous improvement, and academic and research excellence. The successful candidate will work collaboratively to develop a unified vision for the Division of Endocrinology that supports and enhances the current environment of transformation. They will actively work alongside the program manager partner to spearhead a culture of teamwork and collaboration among Division members including clinical and academic faculty members, trainees, nurses, allied health and support staff, and will promote patient safety, quality improvement and patient- and family-centered care. They will also work to strengthen connections with the Research Institute, with the aim of advancing discovery and translational research in pediatric diabetes, endocrinology, and gender-affirming care. Clinical, academic, and/or research leadership experience and training are considered essential.

The successful candidate will support the growing spectrum of specialized clinical services and in collaboration with the Provincial Health Services Authority, will plan these services for children and youth in BC. Other important roles will be mentorship of our diverse faculty and trainees and collaboration with allied health and nursing partners, and scientists.

The candidate will have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Pediatrics or comparable qualifications, and will have completed a recognized training program in Pediatric Endocrinology. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor in Pediatrics, commensurate with qualifications and experience as set forth by the guidelines for Pediatric Clinical Faculty Appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
