Reporting to the Supervisor, Printing Services, the Print Operator will be responsible for providing quality printing services to Firm members as required to support and enhance the Firm’s service to clients. The incumbent will operate and maintain photocopiers and perform digital and colour print jobs using computer-based technology.

Hours of Work:  10:00 AM - 6:00 PM; Monday to Friday 

Major Responsibilities

Operates various printing devices and office equipment (including photocopy machines, binding units, drilling unit) to perform duplicating, collating and binding of various printed materials including legal documents, books, seminar/marketing materials, internal distributions, and other printed materials Attends to equipment continuously during operation, making adjustments as needed Handles digital printing jobs by checking document size/format, checking for special instructions, entering print requirements into the computer-based digital print system and running the print job; Sets and adheres to priorities of printing jobs (based on client needs, volume of work, and time constraints); gives client plenty of advance notice regarding any probable delay Performs daily and routine maintenance/cleaning of equipment including photocopiers, Inventories and maintains records of supplies on-hand; replenishes supplies as needed and places order for supplies with vendor Maintains clean, tidy work area and works in accordance with the Firm’s health and safety policies and procedures Abides by Firm policies including the policy on confidentiality Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the Print Services department

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

High school diploma plus one year print shop or other related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.

Knowledge and Skills

Computer skills with working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point as well as ability to learn basic skills in Quark, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat and other digital printing technologies Technical aptitude with ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot print shop equipment including photocopiers, binding units, electronic folders/drills Customer service oriented with interpersonal skills and ability to use judgement and tact in communications Colour recognition Attention to detail, accuracy, and quality of work Ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and follow instructions without supervision Basic skills in reading, writing and math Flexibility with work hours (often required to be flexible with lunch and quitting times to meet client needs)
