We are now seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist will play a pivotal role in managing HR functions within our unionized environment. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of labor relations, employee engagement, and HR best practices. The HR Generalist will work closely with union representatives, management, and employees to ensure a harmonious and productive work environment.
The Day to Day
- Administer and manage HR policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.
- Support the management team in addressing concerns and facilitating effective communication between management and union members.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies to ensure a diverse and talented workforce.
- Support with branch full-cycle recruitment efforts including resume screening, interviews and onboarding.
- Assist in the onboarding of new employees, reference checks, and scheduling
- Support management with employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations, in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with management on various projects and initiatives to improve HR service delivery.
- Create and update records, employee files and spreadsheets
- Coordinate office activities and processes to ensure smooth operations
What you bring
- College Diploma in business admin or HR related field
- 2+ years of experience in a HR role
- Previous experience working in a unionized environment.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining agreements, and HR best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office word, Power Point and Excel
- Experience working in an aviation environment is an asset.
