Position Overview

Drafts and interprets reinsurance treaties, amendments and related documents including policy forms, LOIs and pricing files. Assists with general business analysis and compliance activities.

Key Accountabilities

Reviews reinsurance treaties, amendments, and policy forms; supports other departments (Accounting, Reinsurance Operations, Corporate Actuarial, etc.) by providing timely treaty interpretations and research. Works with clients, either directly or through client managers, to draft new treaties and amendments; facilitates internal approvals for new treaties and amendments as needed; provides oversight during the process to ensure consistency across treaties. Assists with the maintenance of Munich Re’s treaty templates, in both English and in French, and document any exceptions to the template. Works with our legal advisors to develop appropriate contract wording. Ensures that Munich Re’s internal treaty log is up-to-date, and that any exceptions to template wording is appropriately documented; produces periodic management reports related to treaties. Reviews home office guidelines regarding treaty wording (and other risk/compliance topics as needed); ensures ongoing compliance with home office guidelines; participates in various local and/or global Munich Re initiatives involving treaty and related data administration. Assists with compliance work as needed, including the documentation of internal controls. Assists with general business analysis and project management as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Law, English, or similar, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant life (re)insurance. Fluency in English and French languages, verbal and written Knowledge of living benefits products is considered an asset. Reinsurance treaty experience is considered an asset. Technical writing experience preferred. Strong time management skills and an ability to manage competing demands with little supervision. FLMI designation is desired.
