The Opportunity The Operations Department is comprised of three Branches: Administration, Parks and Forestry Operations, and Roads, Fleet and Technical Operations. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s public works infrastructure and systems including roadways; rail, winter maintenance; parks and green spaces, including forestry; and maintenance of the corporation’s fleet of vehicles and equipment. The Fleet Services Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining a variety of City vehicles and equipment, including automobiles, small and large trucks, specialized equipment with attachments, and unlicensed landfill, road building and maintenance equipment such as gradalls, backhoes, loaders, graders so that City staff have functioning vehicles in order to their own jobs effectively. Education (degree/diploma/certifications) Secondary School Diploma Valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) Certificate of Apprenticeship (720 hours of In-School Training as outlined in the Apprenticeship Training Standards of the Ontario College of Trades, Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities) Don’t meet the credentials as outlined but have years of directly related experience? Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.
