Supervisor Core Facility

- Ensure proper processes are being followed such as orienting core, geotechnical logging, core photography, core sawing, secure sample tagging and bagging, QA/QC sampling, sample dispatch, core palletisation and archiving of core at the core storage site.
- Review Take 5 Daily Checklists & Hazard Reporting Forms, conduct job task observations and safety meetings with core shack personnel.
- Communicate with Discovery and Grade Control Geology Senior teams to make sure daily/weekly/monthly priorities, projects and targets are met
- Coach/mentor lead hand positions to safely and efficiently meet these goals.
- Govern assay preparation protocol and security, following industry best practices, ensuring NI43-101 compliance, QA/QC practices for assay dispatch, and resolving sampling issues.
- Work with Geology Senior personnel to update core shack related procedures to follow 43-101 and CIM best practices
- Mentor core cutters and techs in proper methods to maximize production without sacrificing safety.
- Mentor core technicians in the proper assay preparation protocol, sampling security and maintenance programs for core saws and core ventilation systems.
- Liaise with other RLO departments on potential safety or environmental hazards.
- Track, perform routine and project-specific core shack metrics (i.e. sample cutting rate per hour and maintenance programs).
- Participate in daily pre shift meetings and safety shares, represent the core shack group during departmental meetings.
- Work in a healthy work environment with full support, cooperation and commitment to satisfy our operation’s goal of being accident-free, with safety leadership targeting Quadruple Zero for the geology department, providing motivation, empowerment and trust with Core Shack co-workers and contractors.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Complete daily safety interaction with employees, oversee and review these interactions with Core Facilities Lead Hands
- Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Expert knowledge of orienting core, core cutting process and core sampling procedures
- Capable of understanding and interpreting technical language
- Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants
- Physically fit and able to perform manual intensive work for long period of time
- Contributes to overall success of the team
- Geotechnical or Geology diploma/degree preferred
- Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma
- Relevant Supervisor WSN training
