As a Shift Engineer/Maintenance Worker 5 with VCH you will:

Perform trades duties approaching the journeyman level in a variety of trades’ areas such as electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding. Perform maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment and performs mechanical and electrical repairs to plant systems such as heating, air handling and pneumatic tube systems. Operate, repair and carry out preventative maintenance on the boilers, air conditioning units, emergency power and other related equipment of the facility in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. May be required to process individual departmental purchase requests. Be prepared to act in various capacities regarding supporting maintenance in general terms. May require inter-site work assignments, and working in a support role to trades personnel.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Education & Experience Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of BC. Two (2) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to deal with others effectively. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
