The Learning Strategies Lead works collegially to support the school's vision, mission and philosophy; supports the school's curricular and philosophical commitments as a welcoming IB School. The position also works with the Head of Upper School to ensure that at all times the school's curriculum provides a safe, supportive learning environment for students, teachers and all other members of the TMS community. 

This position reports to the Head of Upper School and is a full-time position that will be based at our Upper School campus. 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Reviewing and interpreting psychoeducational reports; writing accommodation plans; regularly meeting with parents, teachers and others to ensure students are achieving to the best of their ability. Tracking, monitoring, and documenting student progress, ensuring support plans are in place where required. Running after-school student support sessions for academic skill development. Supporting the organization and invigilation of student accommodations through yearly testing, exam periods including IB exams, ministry exams, and the OSSLT. Oversees the Learning Strategies Support team  Works with the Head of Upper School to formulate school policy for Learning Strategies Works with the MYP and DP Coordinators to support student learning for all  Oversees the High Level Performers Program (HLP) Oversees the Concussion Return to Learn Manages and maintains records for and of students, pertaining but not limited to IIPs, and university applications Develop and maintain a standard of professional behaviour, within and beyond the classroom, which exemplifies Montessori and International Baccalaureate principles Promote and create a collegial and supportive environment with all faculty members Establish and maintain an orderly and attractive Student Centre in accordance with Montessori and International Baccalaureate principles Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, implement and evaluate school curriculum  Determine and participate in professional development activities to support personal growth as well as the growth and development of the School Being an active and positive participant in the co-curricular and community life of the school Helps promote a culture where diversity is encouraged and where students learn to respect differences, take responsibility for their actions, exercise leadership and strive for academic excellence.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

Education degree (OCT certified) with qualifications in Special Education required (Part 1, 2, and Specialist); A minimum of 3 years experience being part of a Learning Strategies team and teaching in Special Education/Learning Strategies (Grades 7-10) Experience reading educational evaluations and developing and implementing individual education plans; Previous teaching and work experience that involves collaboration in the area of curriculum development and instructional practices; Demonstrated knowledge of counselling theories, models and techniques Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues, students, and parents; Exceptionally strong problem solving, organizational, time management skills and attention to detail; Strong capacity for flexibility, self-direction and initiative; Strong oral and written communication skills; Ability to instruct in a laptop environment; and willingness and enthusiasm for integrating technology into the learning environment A current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check; Current First Aid, CPR and AED
