McCain Foods (Canada) – Florenceville Potato is currently looking for four Summer Students to join our team.

This position will be a full time contract starting June-September. Applicants either must be returning to school after the work term or recently graduated from an applicable university or college program.

Must be 18 years of age or older

DUTIES:

Responsible for following all safety requirements. Material handling of 25 kg boxes and bags. Responsible for following change over policy and requirements. Responsible for some sanitation duties Trouble shoot, adjust and maintain equipment as required. Must follow “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMP’s) and Critical Control Points (CCP’s). Ensure SQCDPE targets are met by understanding and goal setting of KPI’s. Relay information to other Team members as an area Lead (Key Area Resource). Follow JHA’s and work safely. Participate in STEP program (Behavioral safety observations) Dealing with production issues, working in a fast-paced team environment Participate in Team meetings, as required. Responsible for the yearly completion of the Performance Excellence Program (PEP) training and evaluation. Complete core curriculum E-learning courses All additional duties as they become assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Grade 12 education or GED Basic computer skills would be an asset Ability to work well with plant supervision and production employees Team player with excellent attendance Successful completion of 90 day training period Must have good mathematical skills and complete production forms accurately and neatly Demonstrate continuous initiatives and involvement Highly motivated, observant with good initiative and a positive attitude. Good verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment adapting to and embracing change as it occurs. Willing to work shift work; nights and weekends. Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. Must possess a good safety record and demonstrate “safety first’’ on a continual basis.

Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.” Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, prior PEP Ratings, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will held as necessary and those selected for interview are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position. Shifts are subject to change and are not guaranteed due to scheduling demands.
