Reporting to the Vice President of the People and Culture team, this person is responsible for carrying out the complete payroll cycle as well as all resulting activities. In addition to being responsible for payroll, this person manages and monitors all social benefits (insurance, retirement plan and CSST). The manager also acts as the contact person for all questions relating to payroll and benefits and ensures compliance with the laws and regulations of the various Canadian provinces and the United States.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as a resource person for all questions relating to payroll and benefits.
Ensure proper time entry and proper approval of timesheets.
Process regular employee payroll as well as other remuneration elements that are processed via payroll (reimbursement of expense accounts, commissions, bonuses, per diems, etc.)
Prepare government remittances (Canadian provinces, United States)
Support managers when they have questions related to their employees’ timesheets and payroll
Produce employment records for all employees
Answer employee questions about payroll and benefits
Ensures the end of year process (T4, Relevé 1, SST as well as the necessary documents for other locations where our employees live)
Produce various financial reports relating to payroll and benefits
Participate in the end of fiscal and calendar year process
Actively support the director in the management of the external partner who offers the group insurance program. (Renewal, issues, etc.)
Ensure follow-up of salary insurance files and work accident files.
Actively participate in the implementation of an RRSP program with employer contribution and ensure its complete management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline (administration, accounting, human resources management, etc.)
Member of the Canadian Payroll Association - level 2 - REQUIRED
5 to 8+ years of experience in payroll and benefits management, ideally within an SME.
Experience in managing group insurance, retirement plans and CSST.
Excellent advanced knowledge of Excel
Excellent knowledge of a payroll system
Experience in international payroll processing is an asset
Knowledge of the Google suite is an asset
Spoken and written bilingualism (French and English)
Knowledge of different Canadian and US provincial legislations (an asset)
Knowledge of the ADP payroll system is an asset
Autonomy and excellent work organization
Very great rigor and attention to detail in his work
Good analytical skills and priority management
Great ability for teamwork
Excellent communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
Impeccable customer service
Able to work with a large volume of activities
Discretion and respect for confidentiality
Working in hybrid mode with office presence required at least 3 days per week
Times of the year which may be more demanding in terms of availability
