Position and Responsibilities

As a member of the maintenance and engineering department at Cameco’s Blind River refinery, the maintenance engineer will provide support to the refinery operations based on knowledge of mechanical equipment and design.

Responsibilities include:

Maximizing equipment availability, reliability and performance through effective problem solving and proactive maintenance practices. Solving complex technical problems using formal techniques, including Root Cause Analysis and FMEA, to evaluate systems and equipment failures. Analyzing equipment failures and develop engineering solutions to minimize equipment downtime. Identifying and managing strategic maintenance requirements that involve integration across multiple sites or asset groups. Interpreting machine and tool maintenance records and master data to develop a condition monitoring program and preventative and predictive maintenance plans to drive continuous improvement. Defining, developing, monitoring, and optimizing asset specific maintenance strategies to improve equipment health and to prevent or eliminate equipment failure. Managing the planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance shutdowns by coordinating between the operations, maintenance and engineering departments, as well as other department stakeholders. Managing both the Pressure Boundary and Non-Destructive Testing programs at the refinery. Working with equipment manufacturers and other third-party parts and service providers to identify opportunities to improve asset reliability. Investigate new products, materials, and processes to improve equipment reliability. Providing project management support for special projects, capital improvements, and other unique assignments as required. Providing technical support to production, maintenance management and technical personnel. Driving continuous improvement of asset master data including technical object structure, asset prioritization ranking, bills of materials, and spare parts requirements.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Registered, or eligible for registration,with Professional Engineers Ontario Five to eight years of relevant industry experience Equivalent combination of education and work experience will also be considered Effective communication and critical thinking skills

Assets:

Exposure to predictive maintenance techniques and technologies Experience with computerized maintenance management system, preference for SAP experience Project Management Professional (PMP Certification) Maintenance Management Professional (MMP Certification)
