Alberta Children’s Hospital is a purpose-built Children’s Hospital that was designed for kids by kids. We know that 90% of all youth with mental health concerns are seen through Alberta Children’s Hospital, so we expand services beyond these walls into the greater community of Calgary and zone. The child and adolescent mental health teams provide a full continuum of care including day treatment, in-patient, ambulatory and specialty clinics, outreach and MH Emergency Services. We strive to put kids and families first, work with our partners and provide an exceptional place to work. The PES Family Counsellor position demands both clinical and systems expertise. As a member of a team and within the context of family-centred care, the Family Counsellor completes assessments, provides evidence-based treatments, facilitates the integration of services to provide optimal client service, advocates on behalf of clients, and assists with securing appropriate community resources and navigating systems. This job is a partnership with Emergency and Psychiatry and includes working with Acute at Home outreach team.

Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Authorized to perform Psychosocial Intervention required. Current knowledge and experience using of a range of clinical modalities including individual, family & group intervention is required. Advanced knowledge of DSM V required. Knowledge of community resources required. Ability to facilitate referrals and connect families to appropriate resources required. Experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD and related behavioural, cognitive and social issues required. Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, intervention, and system navigation and case management required. Strong assessment, formulation, diagnosis and treatment skills required. Effective case management skills required. Demonstrated commitment to Family and Client Centered Care required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills required.
