Role: Senior DevOps Engineer

Contract: B2B

Location: Remote from Canada/Malaysia

Availability: ASAP or 1 month

Contract Duration: long-term

Languages: Excellent English (in German, Spanish or Chinese is considered a plus)

Project Overview:

Senior Dev/Ops Engineer to enage and improve autonotmously the whole lifecycle of platforms and services from inception and design through deployment, operation and retirement by applying software engineering principles to build and manage large scale IT infrastructure products and service (both on -premise or in the public cloud).


Responsibilities:

- Engagess in and improves autonomously the whole lifecycle of platforms and services - from inception and design through deployment, operation and retirement by applying software engineering principles to build and manage large scale IT Infrastructure products and services (both on-premises or in public cloud) optimizing:

- Services reliability, availbility, capacity and performance and eliminating work through automation

-Software development and deployment by abstracting away the complexity of infrastructure providing self-service tools and APIs for developers that allow code and ship software quickly

- Designs, implements and maintains CI/CD pipelines, enabling developers to easilybuild, test, and deploy their applications.

- Contributes to Disaster REcovery design and execution plans.

- Develops self-healing features

- Ensures IT infrastructure services reach and maintain the agreed service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), agreements (SLAs) in compliance with QA requirements.

- Contributes identifiying critical metrics used to establish service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), agreements (SLAs).

- Maintains services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.

- Responsible for availability, tuning, performance, efficiency, change and configuration management, monitoring, emergency response and capacity planning.

- Manages ITSM process(es) and track resolution for reporting and resolving incidents, problmes, changes, requests and releases.

- Monitors and resolved incidents/problems (including major ones) with platform operations, suggesting priorities and collaborating in the resolution when required.

- Practices sustainable incident resonse and blameless postmortems.

- Ensures implemented solutions and components comply with Quality/Regulatory standards as applicable Implements cost, compliance and security best practicies, ensuring that platforms and services meet the corresponding requirements.

- Participates in audit exercises providing the required evidences to the audit teams. P

- artners and collaborates with developers, Manages Services suppliers, other teams and vendors to:

- continuosly improve application development velocity

- optimize services reliability, availability and performance

- Works closely with development teams to ensure that new features and changes are rolled out wtih reliability in mind bringing a broader and more strategic understanding of reliability that spans multiple facets of development.

- Acts as an analyst by transforming complex customers and developers needs into specific technical requirements to be implemented by the product team or by other teams.

- Maintains in-depth knowledge of current and emerging technologies within your area of technical and infrastructure responsibility to advance team objective and the ability to address complex, interdisciplinary problems.


Qualifications:

- Good interpersonal skills

- Good oral and written communiation skills

- English language proficiency is required (proficiency in German, Spanish or Chinese is considered a plus)

- Well demonstrated customer & delivery focus

- Strong hands-on technical skills in automation, intrastructure as doe, logging, monitoring and observability, infrastructure configurations, scripting lanugages and applications.

- Wide experience working with Infrastructure systems internals, their availability, administration, capacity, configuration, scalability, performance and integrations.

- Experience applying Software Engineering principles, automated testing and the CI/CD tools to:

- define technical computing infrastructure entirely under the control of software with no operator or human intervention

- implement and maintain Internal Developers Platforms (IDPs) that enables seamless softare development and deployment

- develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines enabling developers to easily build, test, and deploy their applications.

- Experience working acording to DevOps principles, processes, and tools

- Experience applying design thinking, lean, prioritization, and agile methodologies to evolve services offered to partners.

- Experience to continuously research, learn, innovate and share knowledge.

- Mentor junior developers and work to elevate their skill sets.

- Ability to work effectively with team members and virtual teams from different locations and different cultural backgrounds.

- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills

- Ability to function independently with very little supervision and navigate ambiguity.


Requirements :

- 8-11 years of relevant work experience or 6-9 years with Bachelor's degree or 3-6 years with Master's degree

- At least 4 years experience of work in one or more multinational work environments (e.g. healthcare industry experience is a plus) as a senior systems or software engineer

- Ability to work across multiple time zones, including on-call and occasional travel.

- Extensive use of infrasturcture automation tools, infrastructure as code, scripting languages, logging, monitoring and observability, infrastructure, configuration, and applications.

- Infrastructure as code: AWX, Ansible, Jenkins, Rundeck, Puppet, Chef, SaltStack or equivalents.

- Coding and scripting: PHP, Phython, YML, Shell, Perl and/or Ruby or equivalents

- Distributed version control and source code management tools: GIT, bitbucket, github, gitlab or equivalents.

- Monitoring and observability (e.g. LogicMonitory, Nagios, Ganglia, ELK).

- Test automation tools: TestInfra, Molecule, InSpec or equivalents
