Interior Health is recruiting for an exciting medical leadership opportunity. Interior Health is seeking a visionary and collaborative physician leader to serve as Medical Director, Patient Safety. In this strategic role, you will co‑lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of patient safety frameworks and standards alongside the Director, Patient Care Quality, Safety, and Accreditation. You will play a key role in advancing a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the organization, with responsibilities that include oversight of adverse event management, complaints processes, and alignment with physician and staff safety. A critical component of this role involves supporting concerns raised by Indigenous clients, integrating both formal and restorative approaches. As the Interior Health lead for the provincial Patient Safety Learning System (PSLS), you will guide the use of tools for event reporting, abuse and neglect, concerns management, and risk mitigation. You will also contribute to the organization’s accreditation efforts and quality assurance initiatives. Key Responsibilities Provide medical leadership in a dyad model with the Director, Patient Care Quality, Safety, and Accreditation, for the Patient Safety and Patient Care Quality Office (PCQO) teams. Support the development and operation of a patient safety management system aligned with Accreditation Canada standards and the BC Patient Safety Strategy. Promote a just culture that encourages open dialogue and learning. Collaborate on data analysis and reporting, including with Indigenous Partnerships and Data & Analytics. Represent Interior Health at provincial and national committees. Provide strategic input on resource allocation and program structure. Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety into organizational priorities and decision‑making. Serve as a portfolio representative on senior committees and present to executive and board‑level audiences. Foster internal and external partnerships to address patient safety challenges. Support education and training initiatives related to patient safety and vulnerable populations.
