Position Overview Date Posted: 10/17/2025Closing Date: 11/21/2025 Applications are invited for the Psychiatrist‑In‑Chief position at Sinai Health System (SHS), a fully affiliated academic hospital of the University of Toronto. The role requires an experienced, contemporary leader who can develop and implement a strategic vision, build teams, and establish productive partnerships while ensuring outstanding clinical, educational and academic success across inpatient psychiatry, consultation/liaison services, ambulatory and community mental health programs, and specialty areas such as perinatal, women’s mental health and geriatric psychiatry. Responsibilities Lead the clinical, academic and program/operational management of the Department of Psychiatry. Develop and implement strategic planning aligned with the hospital and university to achieve superior outcomes. Collaborate with Sinai Health and University of Toronto leaders to advance the department’s vision and objectives. Work with the Sinai Health Foundation to develop and manage philanthropic funding and report on fund usage. Mentor junior faculty, foster partnerships, and sustain an inclusive, respectful workplace. Maintain a clinical practice, dedicating at least three days per week to patient care. Qualifications MD degree and eligibility for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Psychiatry. Eligibility for licensure in Ontario, Canada. Eligible for a senior academic appointment (Associate or Full Professor) at the University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Appointment Details The position is a 5‑year term, renewable once based on successful review. Remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience, and will align with provincial psychiatrist compensation standards. The effective start date is February 1, 2026 or shortly thereafter.
