Backbone Digital is a digital transformation company and the team behind Expresia, a modern digital experience platform (DXP) powering content, commerce, and custom applications for mid-market and enterprise clients. We’ve built the product, delivery engine, and market presence, now we’re rebuilding our sales function to drive growth in North America. This is a hands‑on, foundational sales leadership role. As our new Director of Sales, Canada, you’ll lead client acquisition, own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, and lay the groundwork for a scalable commercial motion across digital services and SaaS. Backbone has the right ingredients (clients, product, people) and now needs a commercial leader to unlock its next growth phase. You won’t inherit a bloated sales org or outdated system. You’ll build it. With full executive backing, a strong product, and a sharp delivery team, you’ll shape how we win deals. What you bring 7–10 years in B2B SaaS or digital services sales, with a focus on mid‑market to enterprise deals ($50K–$250K+) or equivalent track record building pipeline and closing mid‑market/enterprise deals Proven ability to build from zero — systems, processes, forecasts, messaging. Experience leading full‑cycle sales and mentoring early commercial hires. Skilled in CRM tools, forecasting, and data‑backed decision‑making. A pragmatic, consultative communicator who collaborates across delivery, marketing, and finance. Hands‑on, accountable, and transparent. You take ownership and deliver. What You’ll Do Drive pipeline development through outbound and inbound strategy, owning the top of funnel and closing early revenue opportunities. Run the sales cycle end‑to‑end , from discovery to proposal to negotiation, especially in the first 6–12 months. Refine and validate ICPs , positioning, and messaging based on field learning. Establish sales discipline : forecast accuracy, conversion tracking, CRM hygiene, and repeatable playbooks. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Marketing, Finance, and Professional Services to align demand, delivery, and pricing. Scale the team : plan and recruit early SDRs and AEs as pipeline growth justifies. You’ll report to the CEO and work closely with senior leaders across marketing, delivery, and finance. Success indicators Close at least one net‑new deal in the first 90 days , while rebuilding the pipeline. Deliver a GTM audit with tactical improvements across sales stages. By 6 months, establish a repeatable sales motion and lead generation model. By 12 months, deliver a predictable ARR run rate with >80% forecast accuracy and scale the sales team .
