Follow us on Twitter @BWXT and learn more at Position Overview As our Project Engineer, Life Cycle Engineering you will provide technical support for assigned projects within Life Cycle Engineering and Engineering Services. You will prepare calculations, assessments, reports, and other documentation to support nuclear equipment inspections and evaluations. In this role, you will work closely with a team of Life Cycle Engineering staff and interact frequently with both internal and external customers. While this position does not have direct reports, it requires flexibility to work outside of normal business hours during outages, which occur several weeks a couple of times per year, as well as occasional travel to customer sites. This role reports to the Manager of Engineering Services. Location On-site, Cambridge, ON Your Day to Day as Project Engineer, Life Cycle Engineering Perform varied engineering assignments supporting nuclear equipment integrity and life cycle goals Apply standard engineering methods while also developing new approaches in collaboration with senior engineers Evaluate inspection data during plant maintenance outages to recommend required repair and maintenance activities Prepare technical assessments (e.g., Degradation, Condition Monitoring, and Operational Assessments) to support safe return to service of nuclear plant equipment Contribute to technical proposals for life cycle studies and BWXT Field Services projects Ensure compliance with department procedures and quality assurance program requirements Deliver project engineering work within technical, schedule, and budget requirements Interface with customers and vendors to meet project technical requirements Assist in reviewing customer technical specifications and developing proposals for Engineering Services projects Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Chemistry, or equivalent) 5+ years’ experience with nuclear pressure vessel equipment design and operation, including ASME (Sec. III & VIII) and CSA (N285.0 & N285.4) codes Knowledge of degradation mechanisms in pressure vessels and heat exchangers (e.g., tube wear, stress corrosion cracking, FAC) Experience with Engineering Change Control in nuclear power plants (asset) Strong ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Skilled at developing practical, innovative engineering solutions Excellent verbal and written communication skills Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or working towards licensure Security Clearance This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
