Your Role in Our Journey As a Staff Developer on Jane’s JaneX team, you will shape how AI improves the daily work of health practitioners. You will join an established, senior-heavy team focused on taking our first production-ready AI feature, AI Scribe, from an emerging product to a core part of Jane. You will also drive the foundation for enabling AI innovation across the company for years to come. In this role, you will lead the design of Jane’s AI architecture, collaborate with teams across the business to guide the development of tools and systems that facilitate building high-quality AI-powered features in a product-led, customer-centric way. You will have the opportunity to influence company direction, work with cutting-edge technologies, and set the standard for how Jane delivers AI capabilities. The Impact You Could Have Lead the technical vision and roadmap for Jane’s AI platform. Drive AI Scribe from an early-stage product to a high-quality, high-retention core feature. Partner with product and development teams to enable scalable, secure, and reliable AI-powered features. Influence company-wide adoption of best practices for AI architecture and development. Create and maintain APIs and data pipelines that serve as the backbone of Jane’s AI capabilities. Bring curiosity, leadership, and problem-solving skills to navigate ambiguous and rapidly evolving technical spaces. Inspire and mentor other developers through collaboration, storytelling, and leading by example. The Experience We Feel We Need Depth and diversity of experience at the Staff level, demonstrated across multiple products and companies with strong collaboration across teams. Extensive experience and ownership in design and architecture, aligning architectural decisions with organizational goals. A University Degree in Computer Science or related STEM field plus ~10+ years of experience; Master’s/PhD may reduce required experience. Alternatively, 13+ years via non-traditional paths are encouraged. Proven experience leading technical efforts across multiple teams and establishing best practices. A desire to remain actively involved in coding while guiding teams through technical challenges. Ability to create technical roadmaps aligning engineering with strategic business goals; partner with leadership to influence direction. Strong communication skills to explain complex technical solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience with Ruby on Rails is common at Jane, but applicants with other OOP languages (Java, C#, Python, etc.) are welcome and supported to ramp up. Compensation & Benefits At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly and supporting growth. This role has an annual salary range of $158,400 to $247,500 . Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which corresponds to an annual salary of $188,100 . A starting salary below this indicates strong potential to develop skills. Salaries above typically apply to existing team members with deep Jane-specific knowledge. We believe in paying for growth.
