Senior Software Quality Lead, Lighting

Senior Software Quality Lead, Lighting & Visibility Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three days per week, at minimum. Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the embedded controls and software for all vehicle systems and components that manage vehicle motion, vehicle access, vision & visibility and occupant position, protection, and comfort. Our team is part of Agile Scrum teams of approximately 10 members, responsible for developing Body Controls software & controls for all GM vehicles produced globally. The primary role of the successful candidate will be to lead the Lighting Product’s Software Quality Assurance team. What You'll Do (Responsibilities) Lead Testing Architecture & development for an Agile Release Train that develops and executes automotive Lighting software. Work closely within the multi-disciplined team to understand functional requirements, and develop test strategies and supporting processes for new features and functions. Develop a set of Key Strategic Priorities for the ART around testing & quality assurance. Understand testing flow, and how test processes & strategies fit into the larger picture of overall software quality, and how they map to various levels of the Test Pyramid. Integrate upstream tests (such as Software Unit Test) and downstream tests (such as vehicle-level validation) into larger cohesive plans. Lead the team’s progression toward Co-Simulated virtual testing in nightly build environments by monitoring reports and dashboards daily, and engaging the Software Quality teams to resolve issues. Bring an innovative, agile mindset to help the team re-think its testing methodologies & processes. Provide leadership and technical mentorship to junior Software Quality Assurance team members, and serve as a reviewer of their test plans. Participate in the Agile Team and Agile ceremonies as required. Interface with GM internal teams – Calibrators, Vehicle Integration Teams, etc. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mechatronics, Software, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience. Minimum 7 years of embedded software QA experience. Experience on SIL/HIL or other virtual environments and associated tools and platforms (e.g., AutoVal, dSpace). Experience in Continuous Integration environments (nightly builds). Prior working experience with GM or other automotive software standards, test procedures and build processes. Knowledge of communication protocols, CAN/LIN/Ethernet. Experience with debugging C code and/or Rational Rhapsody. Experience utilizing debugging tools like Lauterbach. Strong communication and ability to translate technical findings into actionable insights. Ability to manage time and meet deliverable timing. Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge) Experience with software configuration management processes and tools (e.g., Git). Experience deciphering Ethernet, CAN and LIN logs. Familiarity with ASIL requirements, ISO 26262, or functional safety testing. Experience in Agile / Scrum / SAFe. Experience in automotive Lighting.
