They are well-capitalized, growth-focused, and committed to building vibrant communities while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. We are partnering with them to identify an experienced Financial Controller to join their leadership team. This is a critical role overseeing all financial operations of their low-rise homebuilding business and working directly with the VP Finance . The ideal candidate has deep low-rise homebuilding experience, full-cycle construction accounting expertise, and advanced proficiency in Newstar . Key Responsibilities Oversee full-cycle accounting: AP, AR, payroll, GL, reconciliations, and HST filings. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; present insights to leadership. Manage job costing, WIP, land, development, construction, and sales accounting. Lead interim/final closings, revenue recognition, and financial reconciliations. Develop construction cost reports; analyze variances; support project teams. Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and performance monitoring. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax filings, and audit requirements. Optimize systems and reporting using advanced Newstar capabilities. Manage and mentor a small accounting team; drive continuous improvement. Provide financial insights to support operational and strategic decisions. Qualifications 5–7+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role within low-rise homebuilding (required) Advanced Newstar experience (mandatory) CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA, or equivalent) Strong knowledge of construction accounting Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail; strong Excel proficiency.
