Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Addictions Counselor specializing in supporting families impacted by substance use disorder. This role involves providing therapy and education to address addiction in a holistic, family centered approach. The successful candidate will focus on strengthening family dynamics, building healthy communication, and creating support systems that contribute to long -term recovery. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of addiction recovery, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities Conduct thorough client assessments to evaluate the scope of addiction and overall impact on family dynamics. Develop and regularly update individualized treatment plans that address the client’s addiction. Implement therapy that promotes healing, communication and healthy relationships. Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, relapse prevention, family dynamics, and coping strategies. Provide educational workshops on addiction recovery, stress management, communication skills and parenting techniques. Work collaboratively with medical professionals, social workers, and other addiction specialists to ensure a holistic and integrated treatment approach. Provide immediate support and intervention for families and clients in crisis situations, ensuring safety and emotional stability. Maintain detailed accurate records of client progress and treatment sessions, adhering to confidentiality policies. Track outcomes and modify treatment plans as needed to reflect changes in the clients’ needs. Develop aftercare and relapse prevention strategies, ensuring sustainable recovery post-treatment. Educational Requirements and Qualifications: Diploma or certificate in Addiction or social work, human services related field, and or combination of education and work-related experience. Strong knowledge of addiction, relapse prevention, and family dynamics in recovery. Understanding of the challenges regarding child welfare involvement in vulnerable populations. Sensitivity and adaptability to diverse family structures and cultural backgrounds. Ability to manage case files, maintain accurate records, and report on treatment outcomes. Experience handling crisis situations with empathy and professional judgement. Experience working in a family treatment center or residential treatment setting.
