Base pay range CA$110,000.00/yr – CA$140,000.00/yr The Cloud AI Architect role focuses on designing, building, and operating cloud infrastructure that powers our AI-driven automation solutions. As an architect for our Infrastructure and R&D team, you will bridge the gap between AI innovation and production‑ready systems, implementing practices and AI design patterns while maintaining our fully cloud based cloud strategy. This DevOps‑centric role requires a deep understanding of AI/ML technologies and the ability to architect scalable, reliable and secure infrastructure for AI workloads. As Cloud AI Architect, the incumbent is responsible for the evolution of the infrastructure used to host the solution and for the deployment and operation of the services that the solution depends upon. The position requires close collaboration with other team members. What will you do in this role? The Cloud AI Architect is a strategic position that partners with key stakeholders in the organization to build well‑defined, secure and cost‑effective cloud solutions aligned with the company’s 100% cloud strategy. As a Cloud AI Architect, you will design and implement the DevOps pipelines and infrastructure that enable rapid experimentation, model training, deployment, and monitoring of AI systems while adhering to security and regulatory compliance in AWS. The proposed solutions will need to co‑exist and integrate with existing cloud workloads, systems and management practices that are under the responsibility of the Lead Cloud Architect. Duties and Responsibilities: Design and implement infrastructure for the complete AI lifecycle: data pipelines, model training, experimentation, deployment, and monitoring; Architect scalable solutions for AI workloads and automations; Document and implement AI design patterns, including microservices, model serving architectures and automations; Design, build and optimize infrastructure for large language models and workflow automations; Select and design vector databases and embedding systems for RAG (Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) and semantic search applications; Lead architecture and technology design and deployment projects using appropriate methodologies to develop production‑ready solutions in a cloud environment; Supervise and validate the work of project team members responsible for the implementation of AI‑based solutions. DevOps and Infrastructure Operations Support the Application/Infrastructure solution’s architecture in AWS. Design, migrate, and implement complex, robust and cost‑effective solutions as they relate to AWS and the company’s Flexspring cloud infrastructure making sure that solutions align with existing devops systems and practices. Establish Cloud Strategy based on core architecture principles, patterns and decisions with a focus on controls for cost optimization, optimum resource utilization, IAM, tactical security posture and governance. Create architectural diagrams, project plans and present technology roadmaps and designs in Architecture Review Board meetings. Collaborate with IT security in the development and deployment of security policy, standards and guidelines related to multiple security domains. Ensure that all cloud solutions follow security, compliance controls, and conform to company IT security and architectural standards. Maintain expert knowledge of current features, planned future capabilities, and limitations of leading commercial cloud platforms. Leadership and collaboration Train and/or mentor colleagues and ensure that critical comprehension and know‑how is shared and distributed among team members. Create architectural diagrams, technical documentation, and present roadmaps in Architecture Review Board meetings Provide technical leadership on best approaches to provide cloud capabilities that are secure, that scale and deliver business value with quantitative measures. Provide best practice guidance and expert technical architectural support for solutions that involve cloud infrastructure, management and security, including integration with 3rd party products. Participate in the hiring process to evaluate candidates who will join the cloud infrastructure team. Foster a culture of transparency, automation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence. Education, Certifications and Experience: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent is required. 5+ years of networking and virtualized system administration experience to deliver end‑to‑end Cloud Infrastructure architectures and designs. 3+ years of experience architecting, designing, and building cloud IaaS, PaaS cloud architecture solutions services. AWS‑related experience is required. 3+ years of experience in implementing cloud application architecture, automation, and orchestration, governance, and security architectures for public cloud implementations. 3+ years of experience working with container‑based systems and container orchestration services such as Docker, Docker Swarm and Kubernetes. Experience with identity frameworks, including but not limited to OAuth, OpenID and SAML. Ability to maintain proficiency in vulnerability and threat management best practices. Solid understanding of security protocols, cryptography, authentication, authorization, and security. Knowledge of emerging cloud technologies and related ecosystems. Experience with IT governance, risk, and compliance management. Complete mastery of Linux operating systems. Technical Skills Strong understanding of AI technology and tools, ML model lifecycle and production AI challenges. Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems. Strong knowledge of project management principles. Expert knowledge of Linux systems administration and networking. Soft Skills Excellent communication and presentation skills to bridge technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Strong leadership, and decision‑making and mentoring capabilities. Strategic thinking with ability to balance innovation and pragmatism. Ability to thrive in fast‑paced R&D environments with ambiguity. Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
