Laser Engineer - Montreal at Fuse Join Fuse, a company accelerating the world’s transition to fusion energy with its TITAN Impedance Matched Marx Generator platform. This role focuses on designing high‑energy laser systems to enable our fusion experiments. Key Responsibilities Design and develop laser systems that produce short‑duration, high‑energy pulses. Develop and test laser components such as cavities, mirrors, and amplifiers to ensure robustness under high‑energy pulses. Collaborate with optical, electrical, and mechanical engineers to integrate laser systems into larger platforms. Lead R&D activities to explore new technologies and techniques for improving high‑energy laser performance. Plan, oversee manufacturing, installation, and operation of laser systems. Implement quality control procedures to meet industry standards and MagLIF requirements. Conduct cost analysis and create project timelines to deliver on schedule and budget. Prepare technical reports and present design concepts, testing results, and project progress to stakeholders. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in optics, optoelectronics, laser physics, electrical engineering, photonics, or related field. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in high‑energy laser design, analysis, and testing. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with laser amplification techniques. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with laser modeling and simulation software. Strong communication and problem‑solving skills. Willingness to travel to Montreal occasionally. Additional Requirements Must be able to travel and work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.
