Lecturer/Assistant/Associate/Professor - Academic Youth Psychiatrist - Sunnybrook Health Sciences Date Posted: 10/28/2025Closing Date: 12/03/2025, 11:59PM ETReq ID: 45776Faculty - Clinical The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are recruiting an Academic Youth Psychiatrist. The successful candidate will qualify for a full‑time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, or preferably Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto, with an anticipated start date of March 1, 2026 or as determined in discussion with the candidate. Responsibilities Provide youth psychiatry services alongside a multidisciplinary team in a 47‑bed Schedule 1 facility, including 10 youth beds (ages 14‑18), 28 adult/geriatric beds and 9 psychiatric ICU beds. Manage 2‑4 adolescent youth beds on the youth inpatient unit, participate in urgent outpatient assessments, and develop new outpatient services and programs (including collaborative care) to build capacity and optimize urgent care assessment pathways. Contribute to the clinical and academic interprofessional activities of the Department of Psychiatry and the Youth Division of Psychiatry, including the psychiatry call system and teaching program. Participate in a program of educational scholarship, leadership and administration focused on child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP) and eventually assume an education leadership position. Qualifications MD degree; Royal College/Board Certified or Royal College/Board Eligible in Psychiatry. Eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preferred: eligible for an FRCPC in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent. Track record of excellence in teaching with frequent presence of learners on the team. Compensation Based on protected academic time commensurate with the candidate’s academic experience and expertise plus a fee‑for‑service structure, with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or Departmentally‑sanctioned administrative roles.
