A leading apparel company specializing in branded and private label programs is looking for a highly motivated and organized candidate with strong leadership skills for the position of Senior Controller. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day‑to‑day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, letters of credit, documentary collections, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, human resources, and operations, etc. Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll and financial reporting. Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for management. Prepare and assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals. Prepare forecasts and manage cash flow. Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets, and issue regular status reports to senior management. Build an accounting department as the company grows. Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, product costing, etc. when necessary. Manage commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms. Assure that assets are not awkwardly encumbered with unrealistic commitments. Interface with outside audit firms, banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agents, EDC credit card companies, and collection agencies. Provide visionary and leadership implementation role on behalf of Accounting/Finance to all departments, creating a well‑respected and sought‑after department goal. Reports directly to the CEO. Supervise overall operations (including: Safety, Security, Computer Services and Building Maintenance). Other duties as necessary. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Manage the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Accounting/Finance, operations. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and guidelines. Interview, hire, plan, assign, direct work, reward, discipline employees, conduct performance reviews, and address complaints and resolve problems. QUALIFICATIONS 7–10+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business. CPA required. Experience working in the apparel and distribution sector (Preferred). Knowledge of processing import letters of credit. Knowledge of Visual (Preferred). Knowledge of implementing ERP system. Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including General Accepted Accounting Principles. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections. Strong leadership and ability to develop team members. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Ability to work without direct supervision, and efficiently manage tasks and time. Ability to strategize and solve problems. Excellent communication and people skills.
