About Us Kwadacha Nation, also known as Fort Ware, is located approximately 570 km north of Prince George at the confluence of the Fox, Kwadacha, and Finlay rivers. The Nation seeks to balance resources and the needs of its people for current and future generations. Responsibilities Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive safety program across Kwadacha Nation and KNR operations. Conduct safety audits and inspections across capital projects, maintenance operations, KNR projects, warehouse, wood products manufacturing, public works, and office settings. Lead safety training and ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and other applicable regulations. Collaborate with department leads to develop site‑specific protocols and emergency response plans. Manage office safety procedures, including ergonomics, fire safety, and emergency preparedness. Investigate incidents and near‑misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain accurate records of safety meetings, inspections, and training activities. Oversee vehicle and fleet safety compliance, including driver safety protocols, record keeping, and regulatory requirements. Prepare and present safety programs and fleet performance reports to senior leadership. Monitor emerging safety regulations and best practices, updating programs and policies proactively. Travel regularly between Prince George and Fort Ware to ensure consistent standards and support. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety management, ideally in public works or Indigenous community settings. Experience in manufacturing (e.g., sawmill or value‑added production facility) and forestry or construction sites. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation is an asset. Strong understanding of occupational health and safety regulations (WorkSafeBC). Satisfactory reference checks and Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License, clear Driver’s Abstract, and willingness to travel.
