Intermediate Mechanical Engineer - Power Generation Location: Calgary, AB / Moncton, NB / Kitchener, ON (any Canadian office) Job Description WSP’s Energy, Resources and Industry (ERI) sector supports clients across the country on a wide range of projects, from small installations to large integrated megaprojects. We provide design, engineering, and environmental services that contribute to climate adaptation, water and marine resource protection, biodiversity restoration, and the transition to low‑carbon solutions. We are looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Canada. The role involves working on mechanical engineering deliverables in collaboration with multiple disciplines, supporting a diverse portfolio of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor‑Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers), and contributing to the design and implementation of future power grid systems. As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will: Responsibilities Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities Prepare mechanical equipment and packaged equipment specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid evaluations Review mechanical equipment vendor drawings and data and interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers Ensure effective communication with other engineering disciplines Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems Participate in the development of PFDs and P&IDs Perform piping design activities including sizing, pressure drop calculations, stress analysis, and pipe support design Mentor and guide less experienced engineers Qualifications University Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience within an EPCM environment, ideally focused on industrial facilities Currently licensed professional engineer (P.Eng, Ing, PE) in province of practice Desirable: experience within the consulting environment Desirable: experience with power plant or renewable natural gas plant design Working knowledge of MicroStation or AutoCAD Working knowledge of SmartPlant 3D or CADworx Experience with Caesar II or AutoPipe Experience with Thermoflow Benefits Attractive pay and flexible work options Comprehensive and employee‑focused benefits including virtual healthcare, wellness platform, and savings programs Canadian success story – proudly representing Canada’s culture and opportunities Outstanding career development and expansion opportunities Collaborative culture and a workforce of genuinely good people Salary range (British Columbia): $96,200 – $132,200.
