Overview R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited (Burnside) is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years of experience to join our Water and Wastewater team. In this role, you’ll contribute to a wide range of projects – from assessments and planning to design, approvals and construction administration – serving public, Indigenous, and select private sector clients. You’ll play a key part in delivering safe, sustainable, and cost-effective water and wastewater solutions. Work where it suits you best — Mississauga, Guelph, Collingwood, Hamilton, Orangeville, or Woodstock — with occasional travel to connect with teams in other offices. What You’ll Be Doing Contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of municipal, Indigenous, and private sector infrastructure projects. Develop practical, reliable, and cost-effective electrical solutions that support safe and sustainable water and wastewater systems. Apply your expertise at every stage of the project lifecycle—from assessments and studies through detailed design, approvals, and construction support. Work closely with engineers, technologists, and project managers to integrate electrical systems into broader infrastructure designs. Build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders by delivering high-quality technical solutions and clear communication. Key Responsibilities Lead the preparation of electrical design packages and technical specifications. Oversee coordination with utilities, contractors, and sub-consultants. Provide technical guidance during construction, including reviews of shop drawings and site progress. Support proposal development, cost estimating, and permitting activities. Conduct facility condition assessments and recommend improvements. Review and validate work prepared by others to ensure accuracy and compliance. Mentor junior engineers and technologists. What You Bring Engineering designation in Ontario Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering 8+ years of relevant experience in electrical design and project delivery Strong knowledge of the CEC, OESC, and National/Ontario Building Codes Proficiency with AutoCAD (Revit an asset) Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle Stand-Out Qualities Include Project management experience and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams Experience with AGI32 and/or Visual lighting software Proven ability to lead client meetings and drive projects from concept through completion Why Choose Burnside?
