Parks Division is responsible for infrastructure management and development for both Alberta Parks and Public Lands to ensure outdoor, nature-based recreation opportunities for all Albertans that are safe, sustainable, accessible and enjoyable while balancing conservation values. Key Responsibilities Support management planning initiatives across Alberta Park sites, working closely with regional staff. Develop planning frameworks, strategies, recommendations and decision-support materials. Collaborate with regional parks staff, Indigenous communities and stakeholders to support shared planning outcomes. Prepare briefing notes, planning reports and options analyses for management as well as executive review. Support the integration of recreation, conservation, cultural and operational considerations in management planning. Participate in cross-government and inter-agency planning as well as coordination processes. Some travel within Alberta may be required. A valid Class 5 driver’s licence (or equivalent) is required. Equivalency 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year education. Required Experience in planning, policy analysis, land use or resource management, environmental planning, or parks and protected areas planning. Experience preparing planning reports, briefing notes, recommendations, or decision-support materials. Experience collaborating with internal teams, Indigenous communities, stakeholders, or cross-government partners. Assets Experience with system-level or strategic planning frameworks. Experience in parks, conservation, land use, or environmental management contexts. Experience with GIS or spatial data review, ecological assessments, visitor-use data, or other planning information sources. Experience facilitating or supporting multi-party or cross-jurisdictional planning processes. Knowledge of parks legislation, land use policy, and environmental planning frameworks in Alberta. Qualifications Continued Excellent interpersonal skills to develop productive working relationships. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Consultation, facilitation, and issues resolution skills including consensus building, encouraging, and motivating. Time management and client relations skills. Strong analytic and problem solving skills. Organization, coordination, and project management skills. Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. Ability to effectively engage a variety of stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve agreed upon goals and set up inclusive and collaborative programs/initiatives. Ability to weigh multiple perspectives to maximize results and recommend the most appropriate solution. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM-4:30 PM, 36.25 hours a week. This position may require travel throughout the province. Candidates must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent) and be willing to travel as needed.
