Director of Business Development – Biomass Advisory Group Ecostrat is a North American leader in biomass supply chain intelligence and risk assessment based in Toronto, Ontario. Our vision is to help significantly increase the development rate and success ratio of bioenergy, biochemical and biofuel initiatives in North America. We help bioenergy, biofuel, and biochem projects get financed and built by providing data, insight, and ratings developers, investors, and lenders rely on. We’re seeking a Director of Business Development to drive growth for our Advisory Group , including BDO Zone Ratings and our first‑of‑its‑kind Feedstock Supply Insurance (FSI) – a financial innovation helping bio‑based projects secure financing and reduce risk. This is not a maintenance role—it’s a growth mandate . You’ll bring a strategic mindset and hands‑on approach to building relationships, uncovering opportunities, and driving revenue in a rapidly evolving market. This is a rare opportunity to lead business development for a firm that’s reshaping how bio‑based projects get financed and built across North America. Key Responsibilities Lead the business development strategy for Advisory, BDO Zones, and FSI Manage and coach the BD/BDO Zone team with clear targets and KPIs Drive consultative, solution‑focused sales with developers, investors, policymakers, and financial institutions Build and expand long‑term client relationships across North America Represent Ecostrat at industry events and through thought leadership Collaborate with Advisory, FSI, and Marketing teams to ensure seamless client delivery Qualifications Eight to ten years of progressive experience in consultative sales (experience in bioenergy, clean tech, or environmental sectors is an asset) Excellent understanding of consultative and solution‑based sales with the ability to articulate financial and risk‑based value propositions A high‑energy committed self‑starter—curious, persistent, and motivated by results. Proven success managing complex, multi‑stakeholder sales cycles—from initial outreach to contract negotiation Skilled, poised communicator with strong proposal development and relationship management abilities.
