Lecturer / Assistant Professor - Academic Neurologist Posted: 11/17/2025 | Closing: 12/18/2025, 11:59 PM ET | Req ID: 36253 | Category: Faculty - Clinical Description The Division of Neurology, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto are seeking a full‑time Academic neurologist to fulfill the Clinician‑Investigator role. The candidate will be appointed at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor (advanced training and scholarship required for Assistant Professor) with an expected start date of July 1, 2025. Clinical Responsibilities Provide shared general neurology call coverage, inpatient consultation services, and outpatient clinical work. Consult and support patients for movement disorders procedures, evaluate clinical effects, and provide general support within the hospital and outpatient system. Participate in pre‑operative assessment and post‑operative follow‑up for surgical movement disorder patients. Execute MRI‑guided focused ultrasound assessments and other neuromodulation approaches. Research Responsibilities Devote 50 % of time to scholarly activities in movement disorders research. Collaborate with the team to advance a research agenda in movement disorders. Lead or support studies related to neuromodulation techniques such as deep brain stimulation and motor cortex stimulation. Teaching / Administrative Duties Commit approximately 10 % of time to teaching and administrative activities. Qualifications MD degree; eligible for Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Neurology certification and Ontario licensing. Movement disorders fellowship (preferably at a high‑volume surgical referral site) and advanced training post‑residency in a relevant area. Experience with deep brain stimulation, ablative procedures, and neuromodulation device programming. Experience with MRI‑guided focused ultrasound and comprehensive peri‑operative assessments. Strong scholarly record evidencing research and publication (required for Assistant Professor). Proficiency in English; ability to conduct clinical work in English. Compensation and Benefits Estimated remuneration $200,000‑$400,000 per year, fee‑for‑service with partial salary support, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, and experience.
