What will you do?


As the General Manager (GM), you will oversee all operations in British Columbia and Alberta. Your role will involve leading the implementation of operational procedures and strategies for your region and being accountable for achieving various targets, including revenues, KPIs, growth objectives, customer service, retention, occupancy, accounts receivables, and community development. To be successful, you will be proactive in reviewing, negotiating, and implementing operational efficiencies, reducing expenses and performance, and managing the team according to company policies and procedures.


We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills and a good understanding of financial management. The role will also involve overseeing existing facilities and integrating new regional acquisitions. Responsibilities will include:


  • Support the VP of Operations in communicating and executing corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for overseeing daily business operations for self-storage and mobile container activities in BC and Alberta.
  • Provide operational and sales direction for Facility Managers (FM) to ensure clear KPIs are set.
  • Performance management, recruitment, and retention of employees.
  • Ensure that the FMs understand and adhere to budgets, and coach them on financial literacy.
  • Analyze, recommend, and implement performance improvements of the facilities and operations, including occupancy, delinquency, and financial position.
  • Ensure that operational processes are standardized for the current portfolio and for bringing in new acquisitions.
  • Review, recommend, and implement improvements to standard operating procedures and policies.
  • Analyze, report, and monitor AR delinquency and collections following policy and procedures.
  • Working with FMs and Marketing on pricing and incentive plans to achieve occupancy and financial goals.
  • Lead through demonstrated best-in-class delivery standards in customer service, maintenance, and storage operations.
  • Oversee the implementation of training and education for FMs and demonstrate strong mentorship abilities to ensure their success in their roles.
  • Travels to facilities throughout your region, minimum 3 times per year.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by management.


What do you need…


  • I have 3- 5+ years of experience in leadership role managing multi-unit or regionally diverse operations within storage, retail, hospitality, or food & beverage industries.
  • Facility management/maintenance experience with an understanding of capital management is required.
  • Proven business financials and data analytics proficiency within sales, P&L, and capital management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, with comfort in all MS Office suite products, including SharePoint.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to coach developing leaders and present to an executive audience.
  • Systems and technology savvy; experience using programs like Site Link and Call Potential are considered an asset.
  • A bachelor’s Degree, relevant education or experience, or a combination of both.
  • Bilingual English and French, both verbal and written, are considered an asset.
  • A driver’s license and clean driver abstract are required.
  • Travel is required up to 30%
