We're seeking a dynamic Controller to join our client's within the Transportation team in Rocky View County. As a Controller, you'll oversee all aspects of the accounting cycle, manage a small accounting team, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical accounting expertise and operational understanding within the logistics or transportation sector What We Offer: Salary: $100,000 - $130,000 + bonus Job Type/Shift: Full Time Permanent Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision What You’ll Do: Financial Management Oversee daily accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Supervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring timely and accurate work. Reporting & Analysis Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify cost efficiencies and profit opportunities. Prepare financial reports and present key insights to senior leadership. Monitor key operational and financial metrics such as fuel costs, fleet utilization, and route profitability. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Tax & Compliance Oversee tax filings including HST, payroll remittances, and fuel tax reporting. Coordinate with external accountants and auditors during year-end processes. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and industry regulations. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with operations and dispatch teams to align financial performance with business goals. Provide financial guidance to support pricing strategies, fleet management, and capital planning. Implement process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency. What We’re Looking For: CPA designation (or working toward completion) preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with leadership or supervisory experience. Experience in the trucking, logistics, or transportation industry strongly preferred. Strong understanding of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE). Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems) and advanced Excel skills.
