Early Professional, Structural Engineering WSP is seeking an ambitious, dynamic Structural Designer to join our Structural Engineering Group at the London, Ontario office. Reporting to a Manager, Structural Engineering, this role supports multi-disciplinary project teams by taking innovative design solutions from proposal through to construction for clients across a wide range of sectors. The role may grow to include a client-facing component and will help you gain knowledge of project management best practices. What you’ll do at WSP Perform engineering calculations and assessments for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures under the supervision of Senior Engineers Perform calculations using latest design software and finite element modelling, underpinned by sound principles Demonstrate practical knowledge of applicable codes (e.g., OBC and NBC) Contribute to the execution of efficient and accurate project deliverables to high standards Write technical reports Conduct field reviews and condition assessments Assist in the preparation of proposals Develop innovative solutions for new and existing structures Work with a client-centric approach and seek opportunities to enhance client satisfaction Support diversity and inclusion in the workplace and in design Advance computational design and the integration of graphical and analytical structural models Occasional travel within Canada for project-related work, site assessments and site support Other duties as assigned What you bring to WSP Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering 1–4 years of experience in Structural Design or Structural General Conformance Review Proactive, energetic, client-centric, and able to contribute innovatively in a solution-driven environment Excellent organizational and technical writing skills Valid driver’s license Creative and innovative, with willingness to propose out-of-the-box ideas Experience with light industrial and/or infrastructure projects Comfortable in a collaborative setting and open to feedback Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and service excellence Accountable, proactive problem solver who can challenge the status quo constructively Curiosity about all we do and a willingness to learn About Us WSP is one of the world’s leading professional services firms.
